“Say it with Flowers…” Mary Jones and Rodier Flowers, that is!
“Where flowers bloom, so does hope.” When you attend a fun and fabulous RVNA fundraising event, you can’t help but notice the beautiful flowers around the room and adorning the tables – centerpieces beautifully designed and thoughtfully created by Mary Jones and her team at Rodier Flowers. Hope blooms at these events. Hope for the healing and recovery of our patients and for the strength and resiliency of their caregivers. These events serve to introduce people to RVNA and raise critical funds to support our mission of caring, a mission that wouldn’t exist without our generous donors and business sponsors.
As an RVNA sponsor, Mary has a special connection to RVNA’s mission. The local VNA in her home town helped her family tremendously in years gone by, caring for her mother, who suffered for many years with a chronic illness; her brother, injured in a serious accident; and finally, her father, when dementia took hold. She fondly recalls when Joyce Ligi, Ridgefield community and RVNA board member, called her on the phone to ask her to consider joining the RVNA Board of Directors – “It was the universe calling!”
Since that phone call in 2007, Mary has served on or chaired, at one point or another, just about every committee at RVNA – from Marketing and Development to Finance and Strategic Action. Mary was elected to RVNA’s Board of Directors in 2009 and served as Board Chair 2013-2017, overseeing the agency during a successful capital campaign and the construction of our Center for Exceptional Care at 27 Governor Street. For Mary, her love of RVNA is also about its people – staff, leadership and volunteers. Her experience with RVNA is so rewarding, she says “you truly get more than you give when joined by a group of wonderful people.”
Rodier is family-owned and operated, open 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday, and 24/7 on the web. When Jones purchased Rodier Flowers on Main Street ten years ago, she was not a florist. She was a business woman (not to mention, a wife and mother of four) with a love of flowers and creative flair. Since then, she has expanded Rodier to include Ridgefield Flowers, Stewart Flowers in Wilton, and The Brewster Flower Garden in Brewster, NY.
Her busiest time of year? “Definitely Mother’s Day!” Her favorite flower? “Don’t make me choose!”
All of us at RVNA are sincerely grateful to Rodier Flowers, for their sponsorship support of our fundraising events, and Mary Jones, for her years of service and commitment to RVNA. We know our patients feel the same.
